New Features
- •Scan with your phone camera or a laptop webcam, or type the number printed under the barcode.
- •New products fill in their name, brand, package size and allergens for you. Compound ingredients like chocolate chips and sprinkles also fill in their sub-ingredients for your labels.
- •Link a barcode to an ingredient you already have, so your recipes keep using it and the next scan restocks it.
- •Restock in one tap: choose how many packages you bought, and the right amount is added to your stock.
- •Recent prices to tap: what you paid last time, what other bakers paid at the same store, and online prices from stores like Walmart and Target.
- •Each ingredient and supply now remembers which store you buy it from.
- •Works for supplies too, like cake boxes and liners.
- •Scan while building a recipe: when an ingredient is not in your list yet, scan the package to add it.
Bug Fixes
- •Editing an ingredient on your phone no longer clears its brand, allergens, sub-ingredients and notes.
- •The ingredient unit list now includes fluid ounces.
How to Use
Add something new
- 1Open Ingredients & Inventory on your phone and tap Scan.
- 2Allow camera access when your phone asks, then hold the barcode inside the box.
- 3Tap Add as new ingredient (or Add as supply).
- 4Check the details, tap a recent price or type what you paid, pick the store, and set how many packages you have.
- 5Click Add Ingredient.
Link a barcode to an ingredient you already have
- 1Scan the package.
- 2Under Already have it?, tap the ingredient your recipes use, or search for it.
- 3Check the package size, add the price and store, and tap Link and add to stock.
Restock
- 1Tap Scan, or Scan to restock on the Inventory tab.
- 2Scan the package. Your ingredient opens with last time's price and store filled in.
- 3Set how many packages you bought, change the price if it changed, and tap Add to stock.
- 4Tap Scan next item to keep going through your shopping.
Add or change barcodes later
- 1Edit the ingredient or supply.
- 2Under Barcodes, tap Link a barcode and scan the package, or remove one you no longer buy.
Tips
- •Scan your first bag of each staple and link it to the ingredient your recipes already use. After that, restocking is one tap.
- •Buy the same flour in two sizes? Link both barcodes. Each one adds the right amount to stock.
- •Typing the price you paid, rather than tapping a suggestion, helps other bakers see what it really costs at that store.
- •When restocking a supply, tick Also record this purchase in Financials to log it as an expense.
- •If the camera will not focus in low light, tap the light button, or type the number instead.
Important Notes
- ⚠Available on Pro. On the free plan you can still add and edit everything by hand.
- ⚠Product details come from free product databases. Most grocery staples are there, but not every product. If a barcode is not found, add it once and the barcode is saved with it.
- ⚠Product databases are filled in by people and are sometimes wrong, so check allergens and package sizes before you save.
- ⚠Prices you type at a chain store are shared anonymously, as the store name and price only. Prices at local or unnamed stores stay private.
- ⚠Online prices are shown for accounts that use US dollars.
